• We will work with businesses to understand their needs regarding climate change mitigation and adaptation, and through our Business Support Service and in partnership with key organisations like the Chamber of Commerce, Business Improvement Districts and trading associations, we will encourage businesses to consider climate change, health and well-being in their strategic objectives, staff induction, personal objectives, and business reports.
  • We will develop a communications plan for business and through the LetsTalkBusinessCW website that provides helpful information to support SME’s to join our package of accreditations and pledges including the Local Living Wage, our Fair Employment Charter, Fair Tax and our sustainability goals. We will create an award scheme which recognises businesses that contribute towards a fairer, stronger and greener Cheshire West.
  • We will work with local industry to reduce their carbon footprint. Industrial emissions account for 64% of the total carbon footprint of West Cheshire and at peak periods, Ellesmere Port alone consumes as much as 5% of the UK’s energy. We will work with these sectors to help them move to lower carbon forms of production.
  • We will attract new industries that specialise in green technologies to create new jobs for local people, as well as providing local action in the fight against climate change.
  • We recognise the important role that Hydrogen will play in decarbonising industry in our borough, and we will be a strong lobby for the transition to renewables as the primary energy source for production.
