Environmental improvements through renewable energy
- We will support renewable energy generation, particularly through solar and or wind farms, to increase the UK’s energy security. We also want to promote renewable energy sources through our local planning processes and in partnership with local providers or community energy organisations wherever possible.
- Often residents and businesses are seeking guidance on what they can do in relation to renewable energy, so wherever possible we will promote local providers as part of the advice and support we provide.
- We will use de-commissioned landfill sites to provide renewable energy through solar energy.
- We will run a targeted campaign to encourage ‘electricity only homes’ in our borough to switch to green energy providers, including social homes, to help towards our borough’s net zero target.
- We will work with local communities to raise awareness of the transition to Net Zero, and to encourage projects like community energy co-ops.
