We will develop a programme of support for young carers, including in schools where we will raise awareness of young carers and their needs, so they are not disadvantaged.
We will involve carers from across the Borough in reviewing the support we provide, suggesting ways to improve and co-produce future services.
Working with community organisations, voluntary groups and the faith sector, we will create a wider choice of services to offer breaks for residents who are caring for people with dementia.
We will increase the number of assessments for carers, so that we can ensure that appropriate services are offered to meet their needs.
We will adopt a fair employment charter that encourages Cheshire West and Chester’s employers to adopt carer friendly policies such as flexible hours and carer leave, so individuals with carer responsibilities can balance work and caring responsibilities.
