• As a Marmot Borough, we will work across the public, private and third sector in Cheshire and Merseyside to tackle health inequalities and promote public health campaigns that encourage local people to be active and to exercise as much as they can. This will include integrating economic and social indicators in all our policies and in our contracts with commissioned services, so that the impact on health is a key factor in all the decisions we take and the money we spend.
  • We will continue to invest in our Brio Leisure services, so that every town in our Borough has access to affordable and quality leisure activities, including our network of public swimming pools. We will look for opportunities to further develop Brio as a health and wellbeing service for residents.
  • We will tackle childhood obesity through our ‘ActiveChild’ partnership working and ‘Eat Well, Be Active’ framework, and we will continue to upscale local initiatives such as the Daily Mile, Active Streets and local sport.
  • Through our school catering company, Edsential, we support healthy eating and provide good quality meals to children in local authority schools. To support our local economy, we will use local suppliers and farm assured meat.
  • We will continue to work in partnership to deliver services to promote good sexual health, reduce smoking and help people affected by harmful drug and alcohol use. We will increase walking and cycling through social prescribing and investment in Active Travel to secure better health outcomes.
